  12. Just a debugged and optimised version of the C= serial.device 37.4.
  13. All functions should be identical, but this one should be somewhat
  14. faster and safer (the original contained code that trashed a byte when
  15. closing the device).
  16. To use this program, place it in your devs: directory, and select
  17. artser.device instead of serial.device in your comms program.

  19. Note to NComm users:
  20. Because of a bug in NComm, it won't help if you select artser.device
  21. as the device in the menu, since serial.device already is present in
  22. memory, and thus artser.device cannot be loaded, since NComm "forgets"
  23. to expunge the serial.device before loading the new one.  To use
  24. artser.device, edit the file NComm:NComm.config, and replace the text
  25. "serial.device" with "artser.device".  Then save and reboot before
  26. starting NComm again.

  28. Note to users of other comms packages:
  29. If you cannot set the device in your comms program, don't despair.
  30. Rename your old serial device to devs:oldser.device or something
  31. similar, and rename artser.device to devs:serial.device.
  32. Then edit or zap this file, and replace the two occurences of the
  33. string "artser" with "serial".  If you already have used your comms
  34. package since last reboot, you might have to reboot again before the
  35. change will have any effect.
